After landing in Narita and taking a train to Shibuya we get to our first landmark. Hachiko Statue sits outside Shibuya Station and commemorates the loyalty of a dog for his master. As the story goes this dog would meet his master at the train station at the exact time the train came in every day. One day the master had a fatal accident at work and for the next 9 years Hachiko would come down to the station at the exact time his master’s train was meant to arrive and wait for him. Kinda sad but very cool. Over time people noticed and erected this statue.

Entering the Meiji Shrine. There are loads of Shrines all over Japan. This one gave me a good idea of what to expect. The gate is a portal between this world and the spirit world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiji_Shrine

Marc and Ron stand by the gate looking cool and drinking Chu-hi’s. I grew up with Ron too. Although we didn’t meet until High School. Ron is half Japanese and quite possibly the coolest human being on the plant. His knowledge of Japan and the culture was monumental. The greatest of ambassadors. It is not illegal in Japan to drink in public. So we were often stopping off at Lawsons to pick up a fresh beverage. It felt a little like New Orleans in that respect.

While taking a panorama I was approached by a rugged looking man in a suit who gestured for me to stop taking pictures. So I stopped, bowed and apologized. Marc and Ron then told me that the gentleman who stopped me was a Yakuza (Japanese organized crime). We spotted many similar men around that neighborhood that night and wondered if something was going on.

And the show begins! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chcIYaQPYco
